Santa's Seniors Association was formed in 1984 by Kaye Baker and her friend, Grace Ford. These two remarkable women joined forces to ensure that senior citizens in the North Pole, Alaska area could meet to socialize and improve the quality of their lives. This group soon grew to include more than one hundred individuals.
On January 30, 1985, the Association incorporated and began looking for a permanent home to serve as a regular meeting place. After beginning the lengthy process of securing architectual designs, acquiring land and securing the proper permits through the legislative process, the City of North Pole offered them the old City Hall building, and it became Santa's Senior Center.
Kaye Baker initiated the monthly Senior Birthday Celebration and the annual Fairbanks North Star Borough Senior Citizens' Recognition Day. These traditions continue and we honor Kaye for her forward-thinking vision and commitment to the seniors in our area.
